On Monday I opened the one day Education Queensland Inclusive Practices conference at the Gladstone Entertainment Centre and immediately following, the Safety Institute of Australia’s three day Vision Conference at CQUni. Next week there is the three day Local Government Internal Auditors Conference at the GECC.
As well, we had the news that Gladstone has been awarded the 2017 Local Government of Queensland annual state conference. When speaking with me on Sunday, CEO Greg Hallam congratulated us and informed me that this would mean an injection of around $3 million into the local economy. Gladstone certainly has the capability; plus the infrastructure, our re-vamped GECC, the accommodation in the surrounds, and our upgraded airport; to build our reputation and become the Conference Capital of Queensland.
